What is Account takeover?
When a criminal gains control of one of your online accounts and locks you out or abuses it.
Takeovers usually start with a reused password or a phished code, then the attacker changes recovery details to keep you out. Unique passwords, two-factor login, and acting fast on 'password changed' alerts are the defences.
