What is Passkey?

A modern, phishing-resistant replacement for passwords that uses your device — often with your fingerprint or face — to prove it's really you.

A passkey is a cryptographic key stored on your phone or computer. It only works on the genuine website it was created for, so fake look-alike sites get nothing — which makes passkeys essentially immune to phishing. There is no password to steal, leak, or reuse. Major platforms now support passkeys and they are gradually replacing passwords.
