What is Public Wi-Fi?

Free wireless networks in cafés, hotels, and airports — shared with strangers, but safer than they used to be.

HTTPS now encrypts most traffic, so casual browsing is fine; the remaining risks are fake hotspots with look-alike names and shoulder surfers. Confirm the exact network name with staff, avoid entering credentials on 'login portals', and use mobile data for anything highly sensitive.
