What is Digital footprint?
The trail of data you leave online — both what you share deliberately and what's collected about you automatically.
Your active footprint is what you post; your passive footprint is what is recorded about you — browsing, location, purchases, ad profiles. It matters for reputation (employers search you), security (scammers research targets), and permanence (screenshots outlive deletions). You can see much of it by searching yourself and downloading your data from big platforms, and shrink it by deleting old accounts and opting out of data brokers.
